Lay and Wheeler's Edinburgh Spring tasting 19/05/2004 (TNB)

Lay and Wheeler have for a long time been a rather good wine merchant whose excellently produced list must have encouraged a lot of people outside their native East Anglia to order from them. I rushed around their Anniversary tasting in Edinburgh in a bit of a hurry, but there was a lot of decent wine. They had stuck to a few themes rather than trying to represent their whole list, and the one I noticed was the selection of Languedoc wines from 2001. This does seem to have been a fine vintage, and I will buy a few if I find the cellar space. I particularly liked the wines from Chateau St Martin de la Garrigue.
