- Westhofener Riesling trocken 2011 (Wittmann) Whitecurrants on the nose and a hint of lychees on the palate. Persistent and engaging. Very attractive wine. Top

- Chambolle-Musigny Les Bussieres Vieilles Vignes 2008 (Olivier Jouan) Rather excellent: solid ripe fruit, slightly dark, towards cooked almost yet still fresh. Stylish. even

Another German trocken... 09/02/2013 (TNB)
- Munsterer Dautenpflanzer Riesling spatlese trocken 2006 (Gottelmann) From the lower Nahe with a substantial 13.5% alcohol, this is not overwhelmingly subtle but has very drinkable, rich fruit - almost blackcurrants. Rather good, at a moderate price.

- Dittelsheimer Geyserberg Riesling trocken 2008 (Winter) I'd forgotten I'd tasted the Leckerberg the other day, but my thoughts on this are much like that wine: it's well made, eminently drinkable, nicely balanced. I suspect it needs another couple of years when it will be very attractive. Rising

Another German Trocken 02/02/2013 (TNB)
- Ihringer Winklerberg Grauburgunder GG 2011 (Dr Heger) Very strikingly smoky, concentrated, frit with hints of bacon fat: essence of the variety, for me. This is wrapped up in a dry, nicely balanced wine that carries its 14% alcohol effortlessly. Delicious. Bare even.
