Written up from ancient notes! Hence rather brief.- Bergerie 2008 (Hortus) A second wine, I think. Grapey fruit, quite pleasant. Top
- Bourgogne Aligote 2001 (Coche Dury) Grassy nose (more hay than fresh-cut), oily almost, and herby. Slightly hot finish but very drinkable.
- Vire Clesse 2008 (Michel) Citric, creamy, intense. Stylish. Good
- Bourgogne Blanc 2008 (Coche-Dury) Dry, steely, intense and creamy. Goood
- Pernand Vergeleses blanc, Sous Le Bois de Noel 2008 (Rollin) Tight, juicy, good intensity.
- Hermitage blanc 2006 (Chave) Intense, gluey Rhone, a touch of bitterness. Lovely.
- Monthelie 2003 (Coche-Dury) Sauvage, gamy, yet silky fruit. Also floral. Rather lovely. Top at least.
- Fleurie L'Ultime 2009 (Metras) Sexy, soft fruit, couch mixture, beertoot richness. Splendid example - typical of the vintage perhaps (that last point added in transcription some time later). Top
- Gevrey Chambertin 2003 (H. Lignier) Soft raspberry and cassis fruit. There's a bit of spritz too. This seems a bit off the pace - perhaps faulty.
- Morgon 2007 (Foillard) Intense Gamay fruit, very fine. Top
- Chambolle Musigny 2003 (H. Lignier) Peppery raspberry fruit, excellent village wine.
- Volnay 1er cru 2003 (Coche-Dury) Scented, silky, refined gamyness. Very Volnay and very good.
- Vin de Voile de Robert Plageoles 1983 Rather Fino-like, probably intentionally. I'm not sure what to make of it. Say
- Diedesheimer Hergottsacker Auslese 1988 (Bassermann-Jordan) Gentle, slightly faded, pleasant drinking. Top
- Champagne Special Club BdB 2002 (A. Margaine) Apples, asutere fruit, nicely autolytic. Tight and concentrated. Decent I think

The 1988 Burgundy show at DL's 27/11/2010 (TNB)
- Champagne Grande Sendree 1996 (Drappier) A bit blousy (96 Pinot?), apples, sweetish finish.
- Champagne Special Club 1985 (Bonnaire) Underbush and mushrooms, nice acidity and freshness. Lovely. Bare
- Bourgogne blanc 1988 (F. Jobard) Dry, fresh, drinking at peak. A remarkable BB after over 20 years! Easy
- Pernand Vergeleses blanc 1988 (Rollin) Rioch, earthy even, honey too. Delicious. Bare even.
- Bourgogne Aligote 1988 (Rouget) Rich and Chassagne-like. Completely fresh and really lovely!
- Chassagne Montrachet 1er cru Caillerets 2001 (Coche-Dury) Super-refined, creamy, herbal and intense. Gorgeous.
- Volnay Clos de Chene 1988 (Lafarge) Fragrant, pure, raspberry fruit. Still quite firm and tannic, yet so lovely and complex.
- Pommard Poutures 1988 (Lejeune) Rounded, fruity, quite "boiled sweets". Nicely alive, but I have mixed feelings about the style.
- Pommard Rugiens 1988 (Lejeune) Similar character to the Poutures, the fruit is forward and rounded, but it seems a touch hollow in the centre. A good
- Bourgogne Rouge 1988 (Barthod) Memory lane: this was lovely a decade or so ago. This is a bit oxidative for my taste - probably just its age.
- Chambolle Musigny 1er cru Beaux Bruns 1988 (Barthod) Really nice, fragrant Chambolle. A treat.
- Chambolle Musigny 1er cru Variolles 1988 (Barthod) Two bottles tried - both a bit oxodised.
- Morey DSt Denis Mont Luisants 1988 (Pernin-Rossin) Very fresh. Meaty, slightly loose fruit, a touch light on the mid-palate but very enjoyable. Bare
- Nuits St George Richemone 1988 (Pernin-Rossin) Rounded fruit, more classic than the previous wine, a touch of farmyard. Really good. Top
- Nuits St George Perrieres 1988 (Chauvenet) Alive and well, is struggling now a bit. Gamy fruit. A good
- Gevry Chambertin 1988 (Maume) Straight down the midddle. A bit simple perhaps. Top
- Charmes Chambertin 1988 (Maume) Delicate and feminine, but this bottle drinkable but a little tired. Top
- Nuits St George 1988 (Rouget) All that sexy Jayer richness. You have to admire it: a great drink but tending a little to the universal. Bare
- Echezeaux 1988 (Rouget) Very beautiful indeed, and fresh as a daisy. Glossy rather thsan intellectual, one might say, but what a drink!
- Echezeaux 1988 (Mongeard-Mugneret) Pure fruit, quite dry (as many of the wines above are) without being harsh.
- Nuits St George Murgers 1988 (Meo-Camuzet) Tight, complex, silky, lovely, and a bit more intellectual than the Rougets. Fantastic. Top
- Vosne Romanee Chaumes 1988 (Meo-Camuzet) Straighter, less complex than the previous wine, but still very good. Good
- Clos Vougeot 1988 (Meo-Camuzet) Silky, still a touch dumb, even! Closed, but will be fantastic assuming it opens out a bit more. and rising.
- Bandito, Amabile del Ceri 1979 (Quintarelli) Cloudy orange colour. Intriguing, seriously odd stuff. I'm not sure I can make an assessment!
